Library Policy and Procedure
Hello, and welcome to the
Library! We hope you will check this site
frequently for news about the library. In the library, just as in the
classroom, there are rules which the students are expected to follow. The following have to do with general library
behavior and borrowing books from the library.
POLICIES
AND PROCEDURES IN THE
1. Students in preschool, kindergarten, and
grade 1 may check out one book. It may
be borrowed for one week.
2. Students in grades 2 through 4 may check
out two books, grades
6-8 may check out three books. They may
be borrowed for two weeks.
3. Students are expected to handle books with
care. Lost or damaged items should be reported to the librarian or parent
volunteer.
4. Students should return books on time to
their classroom library box.
5. If a book is OVERDUE, it should be returned
to the LIBRARY immediately.
6. A fine of 5 cents per day will be charged
for overdue books. If a fine remains
unpaid for more than two weeks, no checkouts will be permitted.
7. Students in Preschool through grade 2 do
not have fines assessed against them except for payment for lost or damaged
materials.
8. Students must return pencils and other
materials to their proper places, and push in chairs when they leave.
9. If
the library must close due to an illness or emergency of the librarian, all
attempts will be made to contact that day’s volunteers to alert them of the
closing. Please understand that there may be times when a volunteer cannot be
reached. Conversely, we ask that volunteers honor their commitment as
well. If a volunteer is unable to serve on their assigned day, please find a
substitute and let the librarian know who will be coming in as a replacement.
10. Books that are damaged or lost must be replaced. The librarian
will contact parents/guardians regarding the replacement cost plus a $5.00
processing fee.
